Rehabilitation
The Integrated Rehabilitation Centre (IRC) of The Chinese Medicine Hospital of Hong Kong (CMHHK) will be a one-stop centre delivering therapies and rehabilitation to restore and maintain the optimal status of the patients and thus allow timely discharge of the patients. It will also support research by providing quantifiable documentation of Chinese medicine treatment on rehabilitation and recovery.
The following Allied Health services will be provided in the CMHHK by phases:
(1) | Audiology |
(2) | Clinical psychology |
(3) | Dietetics |
(4) | Medical social work |
(5) | Occupational therapy |
(6) | Optometry |
(7) | Physiotherapy |
(8) | Podiatry |
(9) | Prosthetics and orthotics |
(10) | Speech therapy |
The IRC will adopt an integrated approach which enables the Allied Health professionals to work closely as a team in managing patients with complex needs. It will be strategically subdivided into functional modules, rather than traditional departmental or disciplinary based setting. Under this integrated approach, patients can receive a series of assessment and therapy modalities at different functional modules in a consultation session.
Satellite rehabilitation rooms will also be set up on ward floors to serve inpatients.
Supportive Western Medicine Facilities
The CMHHK will be equipped with the following supportive western medicine diagnostic and treatment facilities:
(1) | Radio-diagnostic facilities such as X-ray, computed tomography (CT), magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), ultrasonography (US) and endoscopy facilities; and |
(2) | Core laboratory, blood supply, western medicine pharmacy, central sterile services, minor operating theatre room, high dependency beds (HDU) ward and isolation room. |
