The Secretary for Food and Health, Dr Ko Wing-man, today (December 3) met
with the visiting Minister for Health of Singapore, Mr Gan Kim Yong, to
exchange views on public medical and health issues and sign a Memorandum of
Understanding (MOU) to foster collaboration between the two places.
At the meeting, Dr Ko briefed Mr Gan on Hong Kong's health-related policies
and the work of the Food and Health Bureau. Officials of the two governments
also exchanged views on issues relating to healthcare financing.
The two parties also signed an MOU to enhance mutual co-operation on
health-related issues and the exchange of personnel for short-term
attachments, which will provide opportunities for the healthcare personnel
of both sides to learn from each other and strengthen communication.
Dr Ko said, "Hong Kong has been maintaining exchanges with Singapore on the
medical and health fronts. Singapore's relevant policies and measures can
serve as a useful reference. I hope that both parties can continue to
strengthen co-operation and experience sharing, which will be beneficial to
Hong Kong in developing healthcare measures befitting the needs of the
community."
During his stay in Hong Kong, Mr Gan will call on officials of the
Department of Health and the Hospital Authority as well as visit the Centre
