SFH to attend 4th APEC High-Level Meeting on Health and the Economy in Beijing
The Secretary for Food and Health, Dr Ko Wing-man, will depart for Beijing
tomorrow (August 14) to attend the 4th Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation
High-Level Meeting on Health and the Economy on August 15.
Under the theme of "A New Vision for a Healthy Asia-Pacific in 2020", the
high-level meeting will bring together senior health officials from various
places to share their views on challenges in public health aspects in the
region. The discussion topics will include pandemic preparedness,
drug-resistant pathogens, drug safety and women's health. Dr Ko will deliver
a keynote speech at the health ministers' keynote remarks session.
At the margins of the high-level meeting, Dr Ko will take the opportunity to
call on the Minister of the National Health and Family Planning Commission,
Ms Li Bin, to discuss the latest medical and health-care developments in
Hong Kong and the Mainland.
Other Hong Kong representatives attending the high-level meeting will
include the Director of Health, Dr Constance Chan, and the Deputy Director
of Health, Dr Cindy Lai.
Dr Ko will return to Hong Kong in the afternoon on August 15.
