Press Releases
SFH on Chinese medicine hospital
Following is the transcript of remarks made by the Secretary for Food and
Health, Dr Ko Wing-man, after officiating at the Joyful Fruit Month 2014
launch ceremony today (March 27):
Secretary for Food and Health: The Government has established a committee on
the development of Chinese medicine. The committee has made a recommendation
of developing a Chinese medicine hospital to the Government. The Government
has accepted this recommendation and the Chief Executive has announced in
the Policy Address that we will reserve a piece of land in Tseung Kwan O for
the purpose of developing a Chinese medicine hospital. Right now, the
Hospital Authority has been invited to test out the clinical model of
collaboration between Western and Chinese medical practitioners for use in
the future Chinese medicine hospital.
Reporter: (On the Chinese medicine hospital.)
Secretary for Food and Health: Certainly in future, this Chinese medicine
hospital will be a hospital providing clinical services, a platform for
training and education of Chinese medicine (practitioners) as well as
clinical research. We would of course invite all universities which have an
interest in the development of Chinese medicine to take part in the work of
the future Chinese medicine hospital.
