SFH to visit Beijing
The Secretary for Food and Health, Dr Ko Wing-man, will depart for
Beijing this afternoon (May 2). Dr Ko will lead a delegation to visit
the National Health and Family Planning Commission and the State
General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and
Quarantine tomorrow, to understand the latest situation of the avian
influenza A(H7N9) virus on the Mainland, review the relevant
prevention and control measures and step up further contact between
the two sides.
Joining Dr Ko on the visit will be the Permanent Secretary for Food
and Health (Food), Mrs Marion Lai; the Director of Health, Dr
Constance Chan; the Controller of the Centre for Food Safety of the
Food and Environmental Hygiene Department, Dr Gloria Tam; the
Assistant Director of Agriculture, Fisheries and Conservation
(Inspection and Quarantine), Dr Thomas Sit; and the Chief Manager
(Infection, Emergency and Contingency) of the Hospital Authority, Dr
Liu Shao-haei.
The delegation will return to Hong Kong tomorrow night.
