SFH to attend senior health officials meeting
The Secretary for Food and Health, Dr Ko Wing-man, will lead a delegation
tomorrow morning (September 17) to attend the 11th Joint Meeting of Senior
Health Officials of the Mainland, Hong Kong and Macao, which will be held in
Macao tomorrow.
At the meeting, senior health officials will exchange views and share
experiences in four areas - health policies to cope with population ageing,
infrastructural facilities and management of health information,
preparedness and co-operation in prevention and control of new flu viruses,
and policy exchanges and prospects under the Closer Economic Partnership
Arrangement - to further strengthen the foundation for co-operation among
the three places. It is hoped that the three places can play a complementary
role to each other with the common objective of safeguarding public health.
Dr Ko will deliver a speech at the opening ceremony of the meeting outlining
Hong Kong's work progress and future plans in the above areas.
Members of the Hong Kong delegation include the Director of Health, Dr
Constance Chan, and the Hospital Authority's Chief Executive, Dr Leung
Pak-yin.
Dr Ko will return to Hong Kong tomorrow night.
