SFH visits Beijing
The Secretary for Food and Health, Dr Ko Wing-man, will lead a delegation to
visit Beijing on August 26 to strengthen ties and hold meetings with the
relevant Mainland authorities on various issues including medical and health
care, medicine, Chinese medicine, food supply and food safety.
Other delegation members joining Dr Ko on August 26 include the Permanent
Secretary for Food and Health (Health), Mr Richard Yuen; the Director of
Health, Dr Constance Chan; the Chairman of the Hospital Authority, Mr
Anthony Wu; and the Chief Executive of the Hospital Authority, Dr Leung
Pak-yin. On August 27 the Permanent Secretary for Food and Health (Food),
Mrs Marion Lai; the Controller of the Centre for Food Safety of the Food and
Environmental Hygiene Department, Dr Gloria Tam; and the Assistant Director
of Agriculture, Fisheries and Conservation (Inspection and Quarantine), Dr
Thomas Sit, will leave to join the delegation.
During his stay in Beijing, Dr Ko will call on a number of Mainland
authorities, including the Ministry of Health, the State Food and Drug
Administration, the State Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine,
the State General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and
Quarantine, and the Beijing Municipal Bureau of Health.
Dr Ko will also pay a courtesy call on the Hong Kong and Macao Affairs
Office of the State Council.
The delegation will return to Hong Kong on the evening of August 28.
