SFH to visit Singapore (with photos)
The Secretary for Food and Health, Dr York Chow, left for Singapore this
morning (July 20) to attend the 45th Singapore-Malaysia Congress of Medicine
tomorrow (July 21) and visit various medical facilities and organisations
there.
He will speak on the latest progress of Hong Kong's health-care reform at
the congress and share his experiences and views with other participants on
health-care financing.
Before attending the congress, Dr Chow will meet Singapore health officials
to exchange views on issues including regulation of pubic hospitals,
health-care manpower planning and the e-Health system. He will also have
meetings with the Singapore Medical Council and the National Medical
Research Council respectively to learn more about the medical manpower
situation, as well as the latest developments and advancements of medical
research of the country.
During his three-day visit, Dr Chow will also see for himself the operation
of Sengkang Polyclinic, a leader in family medicine providing seamless,
patient-centred and preventive health care that is affordable and accessible
to all; and the Jurong Medical Centre, an integrated ambulatory centre for
outpatient treatment and day surgery.
Accompanying Dr Chow on the visit will be the Deputy Secretary (Health)
Special Duty, Mr Chris Sun.
Dr Chow will return to Hong Kong on Friday night (July 22).
