Acting SFH deeply concerned about patient's death after taking wrongly dispensed drugs
The Acting Secretary for Food and Health, Professor Gabriel Leung, today
(July 13) expressed deep concern about an incident at the Prince of Wales
Hospital involving the death of a 73-year-old female patient who was wrongly
given anti-hypertensive and diabetes drugs. He offers his deepest
condolences to the deceased's family.
Professor Leung expressed his deep regret at the incident and has asked the
Hospital Authority (HA) to conduct promptly a thorough investigation into
the incident.
He said hospital staff should observe strictly the relevant procedures and
guidelines to ensure correct administration of drugs for patients, and avoid
the recurrence of similar incidents. HA should also review the procedures
for any necessary improvement.
