SFH to attend WHO Regional Committee meeting
The Secretary for Food and Health, Dr York Chow, leaves for Malaysia today
(October 10) to lead a delegation to attend the 61st session of the World
Health Organisation (WHO) Regional Committee for the Western Pacific in
Putrajaya tomorrow.
Other delegation members include the Director of Health, Dr Lam Ping-yan;
Controller of the Centre for Health Protection, Dr Thomas Tsang; and
Assistant Director of Health, Dr Cindy Lai.
Prior to the Regional Committee session, the Vice Minister of Health, Mr Yin
Li, will host a welcome dinner for Hong Kong and Macau delegates. Dr Chow
will attend the gathering and exchange views with health officials of the
two places on the general health situation and preparedness measures against
influenza peaks.
During his stay in Malaysia, Dr Chow will also take the opportunity to meet
his ministerial counterparts and other WHO members.
Dr Chow will return to Hong Kong on October 12.
