The Secretary for Food and Health, Dr York Chow, began his one-day visit to
Hannover learning from the Germany experience in clinical trial and stem
cell therapy.
During his visit to Hannover Clinical Trial Centre (HCTC) this morning (May
19, Hannover time), Dr Chow was briefed by the Chief Executive Officer of
the Centre, Professor von der Leyen on the works of the centre which was
founded in 2005 to offer an excellent record of clinical studies on a wide
therapeutic range.
In the meeting with the management of HCTC, Dr Chow had a good exchange of
views with the experts over various issues, including the latest development
of clinical trials in Germany and code of practice among researchers.
Dr Chow then called on the Cluster of Excellence in Regenerative Biology and
Reconstructive Therapies (REBIRTH) of the Hannover Medical School to gain
first hand information on the development of stem cell therapy in Germany.
Being one of the institutions ahead in stem cell therapy, the REBIRTH runs
research programmes which integrate excellent training with innovative
interdisciplinary science and experimental as well as clinical medicine.
