Govt sets up committee to review drug monitoring system
The Secretary for Food and Health, Dr York Chow, said today (March 19) that
he was very concerned about the recent drug incidents and announced that the
bureau would set up a review committee to overhaul existing policies and
practices.
"The review committee will be chaired by the Permanent Secretary for Food
and Health, Ms Sandra Lee. It will examine issues including drug safety,
conduct of the drug industry, and the need for amending related legislation.
"The Director of Health, Dr P Y Lam will lead a working group under the
committee which will be responsible for reviewing the whole drug supply
chain, including manufacture, import, wholesale and retail of drugs, and
make recommendations to the review committee," Dr Chow said.
The review committee will comprise members from the drug industry.
Membership list will be announced shortly.
