SFH to attend senior health officials meeting in Hangzhou
The Secretary for Food and Health, Dr York Chow, today (November 5) led a
delegation to the Seventh Joint Meeting of Senior Health Officials of the
Mainland, Hong Kong and Macao, to be held in Hangzhou tomorrow (November 6).
Members of the Hong Kong delegation included the Director of Health, Dr Lam
Ping-yan; Controller of the Centre for Health Protection of the Department of
Health, Dr Thomas Tsang; Controller of the Centre for Food Safety, Dr Constance
Chan; and Director (Quality and Safety) of the Hospital Authority, Dr Leung
Pak-yin.
The Hong Kong delegation will brief the meeting on the latest development of
health services in Hong Kong, the implementation of the Co-operation Agreement
on Response Mechanism for Public Health Emergencies, as well as participation in
Sichuan rescue and post-quake reconstruction work by the Hong Kong Special
Administrative Region Government.
After attending the meeting, Dr Chow will fly to Chengdu in Sichuan to join the
Chief Secretary for Administration, Mr Henry Tang, to meet Sichuan provincial
officials to discuss Hong Kong's participation in post-quake reconstruction
work, and to witness the signing of projects funded by the Government and the
Hong Kong Jockey Club on Friday (November 7).
Dr Chow will return to Hong Kong on the evening of November 7.
