SFH to attend WHO Western Pacific Regional Meeting
The Secretary for Food and Health, Dr York Chow, leaves for Korea early today
(September 9) to attend the 58th session of the World Health Organisation (WHO)
Regional Committee for the Western Pacific in Jeju Island tomorrow.
Dr Chow will also take the opportunity to call on the Korean Minister of Health
and Welfare, Dr Byun Jae-jin.
After attending the Regional Meeting, Dr Chow will visit Seoul for two days to
learn more about the health care system and food safety control regime there.
On September 11, Dr Chow will visit the East-West Neo Medical Centre of Kyung
Hee University, which offers an integration of oriental and western medical
services.
He will then go to the Korea Centres for Disease Control and Prevention and
Yonsei Severance Hospital.
Dr Chow will be briefed on the health care system and financing arrangements in
Korea during his visit to the National Health Insurance Corporation the next day
(September 12).
He will also meet the Commissioner of the Korea Food and Drug Administration, Mr
Kim Myung-hyun, on food safety surveillance system.
Dr Chow will return to Hong Kong in the evening.
