SFH visits Beijing (with photos)
The Secretary for Food and Health, Dr York Chow, left for Beijing today (August
29) to meet his Mainland counterparts and discuss with them issues of mutual
concern.
During his three-day visit, Dr Chow will pay a courtesy call on the new Minister
of Health, Mr Chen Zhu. He will also meet officials of the Ministry of Commerce
and discuss issues on the supply of live pigs and live cattle.
Dr Chow will visit the Ministry of Agriculture for an update on the latest
situation regarding the prevention and control of avian influenza.
Accompanying Dr Chow to Beijing will be Director of Health Dr Lam Ping-yan,
Director of Food and Environmental Hygiene Mr Eddy Chan, two bureau deputy
secretaries, Mr Patrick Nip and Mr Warner Cheuk, and Controller of the Centre
for Health Protection Dr Thomas Tsang.
Dr Chow will return to Hong Kong on Friday (August 31).
