The Health Bureau holds World Family Doctor Day Symposium to confer with healthcare professionals on way forward for promoting primary healthcare services The Health Bureau and the Hong Kong College of Family Physicians jointly held the World Family Doctor Day Symposium today (May 18) to share and discuss with healthcare professionals the ways of enlisting concerted effort to promote primary healthcare services with family doctors to support citizens in improving their well-being. The Symposium brought together over a hundred representatives from different medical specialties. A representative of the Primary Healthcare Office also gave the attendees a preview on the Government's new initiatives to be launched according to recommendations in the Blueprint, including the expansion of the number of drugs covered in the drug list of the CDCC Pilot Scheme, the ramping up of nurse clinic and allied healthcare services as well as the upgrading of functions of the electronic platform with a view to fine-tuning the CDCC Pilot Scheme. The Health Bureau organized briefing and exchange sessions to foster partnership with District Council members in promoting primary healthcare at community level The Health Bureau organized two briefing and exchange sessions on primary healthcare development (April 2, 6) with District Council (DC) Members. Arrangement were made for representatives of the 18 DHCs to introduce to their respective DC members in person the services they are providing to citizens with a view to reinforcing collaboration. DHCs will keep on enhancing connection and co-operation with DC members by leveraging DC members’ network resources to extend primary healthcare services to the whole community so that the concept of primary healthcare will take root in the community in the long term.
