Press Releases
SFH on mooncake
Following is the transcript of remarks made by the Secretary
for Food and Health, Dr Ko Wing-man, after attending a
public function today (September 11):
Reporter: There is quite a difference between our limit and
that of Macau. Is the city's limit set too high?
Secretary for Food and Health: Yes, we are aware that for
certain food categories, there is no international standard
prescribed by the Codex, for example, the current case
involving mooncake. According to the eating habits of its
citizens, each and every place will conduct its own risk
assessment and come up with an appropriate level of control.
In Hong Kong, apart from strengthening surveillance and
testing samples of food which are on sale in the market, we
also periodically review our food safety standard.
(Please also refer to the
Chinese portion of the transcript.)
