SFH on organ donation

Following is the transcript of remarks made by the Secretary for Food and Health, Dr Ko Wing-man, after attending a public function today (October 10):

Reporter: (On organ donation.)

Secretary for Food and Health: I think we all know that organ donation rate in Hong Kong is low compared with those of many other developed countries. Recently a young patient who was waiting for lung transplantation eventually died as there was no suitable organ donated for the purpose of transplantation. Looking forward, there is a need to review organ donation measures in Hong Kong. This include organ donation co-ordination as well as how to double our efforts in educating the public the importance of organ donation.
