SFH on seasonal influenza

Following is the transcript of remarks made by the Secretary for Food and Health, Dr Ko Wing-man, after attending a public function this afternoon (February 8):

Reporter: (On measures to be put in place in the Lunar New Year)

Secretary for Food and Health: The Hospital Authority (HA) has put in place a number of measures to help address the pressure on public hospitals during the so-called winter surge, including the seasonal influenza epidemic. This would be mainly done by the deployment of staff. If the situation is getting more serious, the HA would consider putting back some of the elective or non-urgent surgical services.
