Press Releases
SFH on local infant formula supply
Following is the transcript of remarks made by the Secretary for Food
and Health, Dr Ko Wing-man, after attending a radio programme this
morning (January 30):
There are continued concerns about the supply of infant formula in
Hong Kong, in particular sales problems at the retail level due to
parallel trading activities. The situation is very unsatisfactory. The
Government is considering a basket of measures including strengthening
law enforcement actions against parallel trading activities to ensure
the adequate supply of infant formula in Hong Kong. We will also
strengthen sanctions against unscrupulous retailers. Most importantly,
we will consider strengthening the function of the current hotlines
and distribution mechanism provided by the suppliers. I would not
exclude any Government actions in the co-ordination works. Hopefully
we would come up with a set of new arrangements in two or three days.

Chinese portion of the transcript.)
