Publicity campaign to promote mental health launched
More than 70 activities, including talks, workshops, exhibitions, recreational activities and visits, will be organised over the next three months to promote a healthy workplace for employers and employees.
At an opening ceremony today (October 10), the Secretary for Health and Welfare, Dr E K Yeoh, launched the Mental Health Month, which is a publicity campaign co-organised by the Health and Welfare Bureau annually with the support of the Hospital Authority, various government departments and non-government bodies to promote public awareness on the importance of mental health.
With "Mental Health and Work" as this year's theme, the campaign is aimed at enhancing the awareness of employers and employees on mental health and understanding the ways to deal with stress. The theme is to tie in with the World Mental Health Day and will extend over two years to allow a broader examination of matters which affect employees at every level.
The opening ceremony was followed by a symposium with guest speakers to examine mental health at the workplace and organizational strategies for dealing with mental health problems.
A series of five other symposia on healthy lifestyle at workplace will be organised across the territory to get across the message:
