SFH on dual-track healthcare policy

Following is the transcript of remarks made by the Secretary for Food and Health, Dr Ko Wing-man, after attending a public function today (December 8):

Reporter: Can you briefly tell us about your expectation of the new hospital ...?

Secretary for Food and Health: The Chinese University of Hong Kong Medical Centre is a very important milestone underpinning the Government's policy in the dual-track healthcare system in Hong Kong. On the one hand, the Government will continue to invest heavily in public hospitals so as to ensure that the service capacity will be commensurate with the need of Hong Kong people. On the other hand, we also need a reasonable expansion of the capacity of private hospitals in Hong Kong so that the private sector can help alleviate the pressure of the public sector.
