SFH on Medical Registration (Amendment) Bill 2016

Following is the transcript of remarks made by the Secretary for Food and Health, Dr Ko Wing-man, at a media session at the lobby of West Wing, Central Government Offices, today (July 4):

Reporter: Do you think that the bill can be passed on Wednesday?

Secretary for Food and Health: I am always aware that there is a majority support in the Legislative Council for the Medical Registration (Amendment) Bill 2016. However, it is true that a few days before the last Legislative Council sitting there were additional concerns among doctors, particularly front-line doctors, based on worries which were unfounded. So what we have done in the past week was to explain to the parties concerned in no uncertain terms and to clarify the unnecessary worries.
