SFH visits Yuen Long District (with photos)
The Secretary for Food and Health, Dr Ko Wing-man, visited Yuen Long this
afternoon (April 19) to see for himself the Chinese medical services and
environmental hygiene conditions in the district.
Accompanied by the District Officer (Yuen Long), Mr Edward Mak, Dr Ko first
visited Pok Oi Hospital - The Chinese University of Hong Kong Chinese
Medicine Centre for Training and Research (Yuen Long) to learn more about
the services it provides, including general Chinese medical consultation,
acupuncture and osteopathy.
He then proceeded to Mau Tan Street and Yuen Long New Street to observe the
environmental hygiene condition there. Improvements have been made in the
environment of the two streets following efforts by relevant government
departments to rectify the problem of illegal shop front extensions.
Afterwards, Dr Ko inspected Tai Kiu Market, where he talked to stall tenants
to gain a better understanding of their business operations.
The visit concluded with a meeting with members of the Yuen Long District
Council to discuss district matters under the purview of the Food and Health
Bureau.
