Press Releases
SFH on funding for Hospital Authority and avian flu
Following is the transcript of remarks made by the Secretary for Food and
Health, Dr Ko Wing-man, after attending a public event today (February 25):
Reporter: (On reduction in recurrent funding for Hospital Authority.)
Secretary for Food and Health: This is a measure to ensure that the
operational departments, including the Hospital Authority, have an
opportunity to look into how to improve operational efficiency. But I must
emphasise that the whole exercise must be based on the premise that service
demand must be fully met.
Reporter: (On the first imported human case of avian influenza A(H7N9) this
year.)
Secretary for Food and Health: The Centre for Health Protection is
conducting a thorough contact tracing. Up to this moment, we know that more
than 160 contacts have been identified, of whom over 40 are defined as close
contacts. For the close contacts, we will administer a preventive course of
Tamiflu in addition to medical surveillance.

Chinese portion of the transcript.)
