Appointments to Research Council
The Government today (September 14) announced the appointment of two new
members and re-appointment of 15 serving members to the Research Council for
a term of two years with effect from October 1, 2015.
The two new members are the Director of the Jockey Club School of Public
Health and Primary Care of the Chinese University of Hong Kong, Professor
Yeoh Eng-kiong, and Consultant Physician of the Department of Medicine and
Geriatrics of Princess Margaret Hospital Dr Yu Wai-cho. They will succeed
Professor Sian Griffiths and Dr Patrick Li Chung-ki, who have served on the
Council for six years.
The Secretary for Food and Health (SFH), Dr Ko Wing-man, said he was
grateful to the two outgoing members for their dedication and invaluable
contribution to the work of the Research Council. He also thanked the two
new members for accepting the appointment.
The Research Council, chaired by the SFH, is responsible for providing
strategic guidance for funding health and medical research, and overseeing
the administration of the Health and Medical Research Fund including the
allocation of funds for approved research projects.
