Press Releases
SFH on lead in drinking water incidents
Following is the transcript of remarks made by the Secretary for Food and
Health, Dr Ko Wing-man, after attending a public function today (August 29):
Reporter: Do you recommend people taking water testing on their own?
Secretary for Food and Health: It is most important, from the health
perspective, for any persons who have been exposed to water with lead level
exceeding the World Health Organization’s reference range to stop the intake
of water tainted with lead. The provision of a water filter which is capable
of filtering lead in water is most important.
Reporter: What can Hong Kong people do to prevent themselves from affected
by the lead crisis?
Secretary for Food and Health: I think I have already commented on this. It
is most important to stop the continuous intake of water tainted with lead.
