SFH saddened by death of Dr Lo Wing-lok
The Secretary for Food and Health, Dr Ko Wing-man, today (May 9) expressed
sadness at the passing of Dr Lo Wing-lok, a specialist in communicable
diseases, and extended deep condolences to his family.
"Dr Lo was a veteran in the prevention of communicable diseases. He made
significant contribution to the improvement of Hong Kong's preparedness for
infectious disease outbreaks by serving as a member of the Scientific
Committee on Emerging and Zoonotic Diseases of the Centre for Health
Protection in the last 11 years," Dr Ko said.
Dr Lo was also Chairman of the Panel on Health Services of the Legislative
Council from 2002 to 2003 and President of the Hong Kong Medical Association
from 2000 to 2004. During the tenure, he worked zealously and closely with
the health authority to enhance and advance Hong Kong's medical and public
health services.
"The death of Dr Lo is a great loss to the medical and public health
sector," Dr Ko added.
