Opening remarks by SFH on appointment of new HA Chairman (with photo)
Following is the opening remarks made by the Secretary for Food and
Health, Dr Ko Wing-man, when meeting the media with the Chairman of
the Hospital Authority (designate), Professor John Leong Chi-yan, at
the lobby of West Wing, Central Government Offices, this afternoon
(October 8):
I am glad to announce that the Chief Executive has appointed
Professor John C Y Leong as the Chairman of the Hospital Authority.
Professor Leong's term of appointment will be two years with effect
from December 1 this year.
Professor Leong's vast experience in the health-care sector and
public services as well as thorough understanding of the Hospital
Authority's operation made him eminently suitable for such an
appointment.
I have every confidence in Professor Leong that, under his
leadership, the Hospital Authority would be able to rise to the many
challenges that would be faced by the Hospital Authority and
continue to provide the public with quality medical services.
I would also like to express my heartfelt gratitude to the outgoing
Chairman, Mr Anthony Wu, for his strong and effective leadership,
and unwavering commitment that he had demonstrated over the past
nine years.
I am sure that Mr Wu will continue to take a close interest in the
work of the Hospital Authority and support the Government in our
effort to continuously improve the health-care services in Hong
Kong.
