Appointments to Hospital Authority

The Government announced today (March 28) the re-appointment of three serving members and the appointment of three new members to the Hospital Authority, with effect from April 1, 2013.

Ms Chiang Lai-yuen, Mr Pang Yiu-kai and Professor Maurice Yap Keng-hung are re-appointed for two years.

The new members are Professor Chan Ka-leung, Dr Kam Pok-man and Professor Raymond Liang Hin-suen. Professor Chan is appointed for one year, and Dr Kam and Professor Liang for two years.

Following is a brief biography of the new members:

Professor Chan Ka-leung is the Interim Dean of the Faculty of Medicine of the Chinese University of Hong Kong. He is currently a member of the Steering Committee on Strategic Review on Healthcare Manpower Planning and Professional Development.

Dr Kam Pok-man is a certified public accountant. He is currently Chief Executive Officer of the Financial Reporting Council. He is also an Adjunct Associate Professor in the School of Accountancy of the Chinese University of Hong Kong and an Adjunct Professor in the Department of Accountancy at City University of Hong Kong.

Professor Raymond Liang Hin-suen is Chair Professor of Haematology and Oncology at the University of Hong Kong, and was the Immediate Past President of the Hong Kong Academy of Medicine. He is now serving as a member of the Steering Committee on Strategic Review on Healthcare Manpower Planning and Professional Development.

The Secretary for Food and Health, Dr Ko Wing-man, welcomed the new members to the Authority. He also thanked Professor Fok Tai-fai, who has retired from the Hospital Authority with effect from January 1, 2013, as well as Mr Lawrence Lee Kam-hung and Mr David Lie-A-Cheong Tai-chong, who will retire with effect from April 1, 2013, for their advice and contribution to the Hospital Authority over the years.

The Hospital Authority, as from April 1, 2013, will comprise a chairman, 23 non-official members, three public officers and one principal officer from the Hospital Authority. The new membership list is as follows:
