SFH on Import and Export (General)(Amendment) Regulation 2013

Following is the transcript of remarks made by the Secretary for Food and Health, Dr Ko Wing-man, before attending a public function this afternoon (March 22):

Reporter: (On cases in which people were mistakenly charged for violating the Import and Export (General)(Amendment) Regulation 2013.)

Secretary for Food and Health: At the early stage of enforcing the new legislation which restricts people to carry infant formula away from Hong Kong, there were some cases in which people carrying rice pudding or rice powder for infants or babies were prosecuted. This is a mistake. We are right now reviewing the legal definition of infant formula as well as our guidelines to the front-line law enforcing officers, to see whether there is room for improvement.
