Press Releases
SFH on development of Chinese medicine hospital
Following is the transcript of remarks made by the Secretary for Food
and Health, Dr Ko Wing-man, after attending a public function this
morning (March 12):
Reporter: (On request by the Hong Kong Baptist University to use
former campus of Hong Kong Institute of Vocational Education (Lee Wai
Lee) to construct a self-financed Chinese medicine hospital)
Secretary for Food and Health: Let me clarify once more the
Government's policy at this stage regarding the development of a
Chinese medicine hospital. At this particular stage, we have already
established the Chinese Medicine Development Committee, which will
deliberate and give recommendations on all issues relating to the
further development of Chinese medicine in Hong Kong, including
whether a Chinese medicine hospital should be developed. When such
policy is formulated, the Government will then consider whether lands
will be put out for development of Chinese medicine hospital. Before
that, the Government will support proposals on development of Chinese
medicine hospital by non-Government organisations or universities on
their own lands. This is the Government's policy.

Chinese portion of the transcript.)
