Press Releases
SFH on overseas cases of Severe Respiratory Disease associated with Novel Coronavirus
Following is the transcript of remarks made by the Secretary for Food and
Health, Dr Ko Wing-man, after attending a public function this afternoon
(December 1):
Secretary for Food and Health: The World Health Organization has confirmed
three additional cases of new novel coronavirus causing severe respiratory
illness. Of these three cases, one belonged to the earlier cluster in Saudi
Arabia, and the other two cases, dated back to April, were from Jordan. At
the present moment, there is no need to escalate the response level of our
emergency plan for infectious disease outbreak. However, I would like to
appeal to member of the public to be vigilant against the disease. Whenever
you travel to another place and come back to Hong Kong and have developed
symptoms of severe respiratory illness, please go to see a doctor and tell
the doctor about your history of travel. Please do not come into close
contact with wild birds, wild animals and poultry or eat any exotic food.

Chinese portion of the transcript)
