SFH chairs Preparatory Task Force on Chinese Medicine Development Committee's first meeting (with photos)
The Preparatory Task Force (PTF) on the Chinese Medicine Development
Committee held its first meeting this morning (August 31) to discuss the
terms of reference and composition of the Committee, as well as the
priorities and direction of the Committee's work in the future.
The PTF is chaired by the Secretary for Food and Health, Dr Ko Wing-man. At
the meeting, Dr Ko briefed the members on the terms of reference, framework
and membership of the existing monitoring organisations and committees
related to Chinese medicine for their consideration.
Dr Ko said that all members of the PTF have rich experience and knowledge in
the Chinese medicine field. He believed the PTF would make valuable comments
and suggestions about the Committee's membership and terms of reference, as
well as on the way forward for Chinese medicine development in Hong Kong.
The PTF was set up on August 14 this year. Members include the Chairman of
the Chinese Medicine Council of Hong Kong, Professor Andrew Chan; Chairman
of the Chinese Medicine Practitioners Board of the Chinese Medicine Council
of Hong Kong, Mr Wong Kit; Chairperson of the Hong Kong Registered Chinese
Medicine Practitioners Association, Ms Fung Jiu; Chairman of the Hong Kong
Chinese Medicine Industry Association, Mr Tommy Li; Council member of the
Modernized Chinese Medicine International Association Mr Abraham Chan;
Director of the School of Chinese Medicine of the University of Hong Kong,
Professor Tong Yao; Director of the School of Chinese Medicine of the
Chinese University of Hong Kong, Professor Albert Leung; Dean of Chinese
Medicine of the Hong Kong Baptist University, Professor Lu Aiping; Permanent
Secretary for Food and Health (Health); and the Director of Health.
