Press Releases
SFH on Jason Leung's condition
Following is the transcript of remarks (English portion) made by the
Secretary for Food and Health, Dr York Chow, on the condition of Mr Jason
Leung, the tour member injured in the Manila hostage incident, at a media
session after attending a radio programme this morning (October 20):
Reporter: (About Jason's latest condition)
Secretary for Food and Health: There is significant improvement in Jason's
condition in the last few weeks. In particular, he is now moving out from
the Intensive Care Unit to a High Dependency Unit. I think there is no
immediate danger for his survival as he has no complications at all.
However, because of his situation, we still think he needs to be relatively
isolated from the public so that he would not get in contact with any
infection risk and so on. Regarding his physical ability, he has made some
improvement, particularly in his eye movement. He is able to focus and have
some communications with people around him, including his mother. He can
move his hands. Generally I think he is able to move his hands according to
will and this is good progress.

Chinese portion of the transcript.)
