SFH deeply concerned about wrong autopsy incident

The Secretary for Food and Health, Dr York Chow, today (October 20) expressed deep concern about a case in which an autopsy was mistakenly conducted on the body of a woman in Fu Shan Public Mortuary earlier this week.

Dr Chow said the incident should not have happened had all the proper procedures on autopsy been strictly observed by the staff concerned.

Dr Chow has asked the Department of Health to thoroughly review the existing autopsy procedures and give a detailed explanation to the family of the deceased.

"We apologise to the family concerned and will make every effort to avoid the recurrence of incidents of this kind," Dr Chow said.
