Press Releases
SFH on Jason Leung's condition
Following is the transcript of remarks (English portion) made by the
Secretary for Food and Health, Dr York Chow, at a media session after
visiting Mr Jason Leung, injured tour member in the Philippine hostage
incident, at Tuen Mun Hospital today (September 15):
Reporter: (About Jason's latest condition)
Secretary for Food and Health: I have visited Jason today and also had a
chat with Mrs Leung. The situation of Jason is more or less the same as last
week after the doctor reduced his sedatives. He is stable and his condition
is very similar to somebody who had a very serious shock to the brain. His
eyes have some movement and one thing that I feel a bit optimistic is that
he can focus and look at things around him. Although the movement is quite
sluggish but I think this is a good sign for any brain injury. Dr Fong has
operated on him again yesterday evening and took out all the small bone
fragments that are infected in the brain. Hopefully this would clear any
possibility of future infection so that he can have a more speedy recovery.
