< Back

The Secretary for Food and Health, Dr York Chow, said today (July 23) that he was sorry to learn that Mr Shane Solomon had resigned from his post as the Chief Executive of the Hospital Authority (HA) for personal reasons.

Dr Chow said he respected the decision of Mr Solomon.

"After taking up the post in 2006, Mr Solomon has led the HA management in initiating structural and human resources reform. He has made valuable contributions to the improvement of staff communication and resources allocation of the public hospitals as well as the transparency of medical incidents.

"The dedication he has demonstrated in improving the quality of patient care is also highly commendable," Dr Chow said.

"My deep appreciation goes to Mr Solomon. His departure will be a great loss to the HA but I wish him every success in his future endeavours.

"The HA will soon begin an open recruitment for a new Chief Executive. I firmly believe that colleagues in the HA would continue to wholeheartedly serve the Hong Kong community," Dr Chow said.
