Government concerned about the mortuary incident at PWH
A spokesman for the Health, Welfare and Food Bureau today (April 11) expresses
concerns about a case in which the body of a deceased patient at Prince of Wales
Hospital (PWH) was taken away and cremated by the family of another deceased
patient.
The spokesman said the bureau had requested the Hospital Authority (HA) to
conduct a thorough investigation and ascertain whether there were any
deficiencies in the relevant systems and procedures and whether any human errors
were involved.
"We have asked the HA to submit a detailed report to the bureau in a month's
time," the spokesman said.
The spokesman added that the Government had also requested the HA to set out the
improvements measures that would be taken to prevent recurrence of similar
incidents in future.
