More ingredients allowed in cream sold in Hong Kong
The Government today (December 10) gazetted the Food and Drugs (Composition and Labelling) (Amendment) (No. 2) Regulation to allow more types of additives, ingredients and raw materials to be included in cream sold in Hong Kong.
The legislative amendment was made to align existing legislation with prevailing international standards set by the Codex Alimentarius Commission, a Government spokesman said.
Established by the Food and Agricultural Organization and the World Health Organization, the Commission is a recognised international body for setting food-related standards.
With the legislative amendment, the food trade could add a wider choice of ingredients and additives to cream, the spokesman said.
The amendment regulation is expected to come into effect on February 4 next year.
