A privilege to have served HK people: SHWF
It has been a privilege having had the opportunity to work for the people of Hong Kong, the Secretary for Health, Welfare and Food, Dr Yeoh Eng-kiong, said on his last day in office today (October 11).
Dr Yeoh said he expected Government policies to change from time to time to suit the changes in society and to meet social aspirations.
On his departure, Dr Yeoh wished the people of Hong Kong good health and every happiness.
Following is a transcript (English portion) of the remarks made by Dr Yeoh to reporters outside the Murray Building this morning:
"I just want to say that it has been my privilege having had this opportunity to work in the public sector for 33 years. Today is my last day in office and I am just looking at the final report that my colleagues have prepared, after discussions with me, which I will give to Mr Tung (the Chief Executive). I have been looking at the report and making some final changes.
In public service, in my policy area which deal with the livelihood of everyone in Hong Kong, the work is ongoing. There is always work to be done because society changes all the time and the environment also changes. So policies have to change to meet the needs of the present environment and the needs of society."
