HWFB refutes media reports on reorganisation

     A spokesman for the Health, Welfare and Food Bureau refuted speculative media reports today (August 9) that the Secretary for Health, Welfare and Food, Dr Yeoh Eng-kiong was considering a reorganisation of the bureau by removing welfare policy from its portfolio.

     "There is no basis for these speculative reports," the spokesman said.

     "Dr Yeoh is currently meeting the sectors, hospital management and the departments under the bureau to take stock of the work progress and take forward any issues and challenges in the coming months. Severing welfare policy from the bureau's portfolio is not one of the issues being considered," he said.
