Appointment and re-appointment to Elderly Commission
The Government today (July 30) announced the appointment of a new member and the re-appointment of six incumbent members to the Elderly Commission (EC) with immediate effect.
The new member, Professor Jean Woo, will serve an initial term of two years. Professor Woo is a leading geriatrician and well-known academic in community and family medicine in Hong Kong.
The six incumbent members who have been re-appointed are: Mrs Peggy Lam Pei Yu-dja, Professor Alfred Chan Cheung-ming, Mr Michael Lai Kam-cheung, Mr Peter Wong Hong-yuen, Dr Ng Yau-yung and Ms Anita Wong Yiu-ming.
On the appointments, the Secretary for Health, Welfare and Food, Dr Yeoh Eng-kiong, said he would look forward to their contribution to the development of elderly services in Hong Kong.
Dr Yeoh also expressed gratitude to Mr Wan Man-yee, who will retire today when his term of office in EC expires.
Mr Wan has served on the EC for seven years. He has tendered expert advice and made valuable contributions to its work, including the recent work on the Healthy Ageing Campaign.
