PSHWF visits Beijing to enhance cooperation on health and food issues

        The Permanent Secretary for Health, Welfare and Food, Mrs Carrie Yau, will lead a delegation to meet Mainland officials in Beijing tomorrow (April 28) to enhance co-operation between the Mainland and Hong Kong on health and food issues.

        Mrs Yau and the Controller of Centre for Health Protection, Dr Leung Pak-yin, will call on the Ministry of Health to gain first-hand information in the fight against SARS (Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome) on the Mainland.

        The delegation will meet with officials from the Ministry of Commerce and the State General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine on matters relating to hygiene requirements for poultry and meat for export to Hong Kong.

        Members of the delegation include the Director of Food and Environmental Hygiene, Mr Gregory Leung; Deputy Secretary for Health, Welfare and Food, Mr Eddy Chan; Controller of Centre for Health Protection, Dr Leung Pak-yin; and Deputy Director of Agriculture, Fisheries and Conservation, Mr Lau Sin-pang.

        Mrs Yau will return to Hong Kong tomorrow (April 28) evening.
