Mental Health Review
The Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region attaches great importance to the mental well-being of the public. It adopts an integrated approach in the promotion of mental health through a service delivery model that covers prevention, early identification, timely intervention and treatment, and rehabilitation for persons in need. From promoting self-care, primary care and community support to offering specialist care and institutionalised services, the Government seeks to provide comprehensive, multi-disciplinary and cross-sectoral services to persons with mental health needs through collaboration and cooperation among the Health Bureau, the Hospital Authority, the Labour and Welfare Bureau, the Education Bureau, the Social Welfare Department, the Department of Health, non-governmental organisations and other stakeholders in the community.
To ensure that our mental health regime can rise up to the challenges of a growing and ageing population, the Review Committee on Mental Health (the Review Committee) chaired by the then Secretary for Food and Health was set up in May 2013 to review the existing policy on mental health with a view to mapping out the future direction for development of mental health services in Hong Kong.
The Review Committee concluded the review on mental health in March 2017 and announced the Mental Health Review Report on 18 April 2017. To browse or download the full text of the Mental Health Review Report and related information, please click the links below.
