Tripartite Platform on Amendments to the Medical Registration Ordinance
The Tripartite Platform is set up with the aim of enhancing communication among key stakeholders who share the goal of safeguarding public interest while preserving professional self-regulation. It is expected that the Tripartite Platform will offer views, deliberate on and seek to forge common ground to the largest extent possible on proposed legislative changes to the composition and operation of the Medical Council of Hong Kong having regard to prevailing international practices and unique local circumstances.
Terms of Reference
- To enhance communication and promote understanding among representatives of doctors, patients (including the Consumer Council) and Members of the Legislative Council on proposals aiming to enhance the credibility, transparency and efficiency of the Medical Council of Hong Kong in terms of (a) composition and (b) complaint investigation and disciplinary inquiry mechanism.
- To offer views, deliberate on and seek to forge common ground to the largest extent possible on proposed legislative changes to the composition and operation of the Medical Council of Hong Kong having regard to prevailing international practices and unique local circumstances.
